Building the future of construction in Africa
We started Mjengo because we saw too many construction projects fail — not because of bad builders, but because of broken communication and opaque processes.
Our Story
Mjengo was born from a personal frustration. Our founders, like many in the Kenyan diaspora, tried to build homes back in Kenya while living abroad. The experience was painful — unreliable updates, disappearing budgets, and a complete lack of trust in the process.
We knew there had to be a better way. We spoke to hundreds of contractors and clients and found the same story everywhere: good people on both sides, but terrible tools and processes holding everyone back.
So we built Mjengo — a platform that gives contractors professional tools to manage their business and gives clients the transparency they deserve. Because when everyone can see what's happening, trust grows naturally.
What we believe
Transparency wins
When everyone can see what is happening on site, trust grows naturally. We design for honesty, not for hiding things.
Mobile-first, always
Most of construction happens on a phone, on a site, on patchy data. The platform has to work there first.
Local rails, global users
M-Pesa, KES budgets, EAT timezones — built for how Kenya actually works, usable from anywhere in the world.
Slow software, durable trust
We would rather ship one feature well than ten quickly. Construction projects are long; the tools that support them should be too.
Founding team
A small, hands-on team of builders, engineers, and operators between Nairobi and the diaspora. We will introduce ourselves properly soon — for now, the easiest way to meet us is to get in touch.
Build with us during early access
We are onboarding a small group of founding contractors and diaspora clients. Tell us about your project and we’ll have you set up within a business day.
